I have an indescribable longing, sometimes.
When I see a bird soaring
upon the breeze, rising higher
in an updraft,
or a cat casually walking
atop a fence, exuding grace
and balance,
I simply wish.
It is a call within
my soul.
Looking at the fence surrounding
my yard, I wonder.
If I balanced atop it,
would I look as calm as the cat, or
as full of feline nonchalance?
Standing on a cliff
at sunset, watching a bird
below me, I wonder.
If I jumped,
would I look as beautiful as the bird
in the moment before I fall?
